I’ve had an analysis before – will my results be different?
If you were analyzed using a different method, it is very likely you will have a different result!
If you were typed in the 4 Season Method (which only has options for warm or cool undertones), you will likely get a different, more specific result with the 12-Tone Method. This method has options for neutral (warm-neutral or cool-neutral) undertones, of which 2/3 of the population have (that’s 66% of people!). This method is more detailed, scientific, and reliable than the 4 Season approach. It’s a great way to get the most accurate and specific result.
Similarly, if you were analyzed virtually or digitally, it is very likely you will have a different result. Digital images are unreliable; computer monitor calibration varies widely and does not present color accurately; colors from the environment around us (wall paint, furnishings, etc.) also affect and skew our coloring, leading to inaccurate results.
1. Your Palette Never Changes
This is the biggest myth that I hear, and yet it’s obvious that colouring changes, particularly as hair colour changes. When I was young I had very dark brown hair and very clear white skin, as I’ve aged, my hair has gone grey to white and my skin is no longer alabaster, it’s now a light beige. If I tried to dye my hair back to my “natural” colour it would look super harsh on my skin, as my skin is no longer that clear.
4. You Can Tell Your Undertone from the Veins in Your Wrist
I think this advice confuses more people than helps. I never use veins in wrists to find undertone for two reasons. It’s your face complexion that makes you look healthy or ill, not your wrists, and people’s wrists generally get more sun damage than their faces (which more people take care of) so I’ve seen different colouring on lower arms compared to faces. I’ve also had clients who have used skin whitening products that have cooled down their facial complexion yet their arms and wrists are still warm in undertone.
Supposedly blue or purple veins mean cool undertones, whilst green means warm, yet when I check out mine, there is both a blue-purple appearance as well as a greenish tinge, and I’m very cool!
The reality is that other factors influence vein colour including blood oxygen levels and skin thickness, which makes the test unreliable, particularly for those with olive or darker skin tones.
5. Colour Analysis is Only For Women
Yes more women get colour analysis’ than men, but that doesn’t mean it’s not as valuable or even more valuable for men. Most men don’t wear makeup, so they can’t hide their complexion looking pasty like women can with some foundation and blush. Choosing the colours that are in harmony and balance with you, whatever your sex (or how you identify) has a big impact on everyone. Plus when you have a palette of colours that work together (as my palettes do) you’ll find it easy to mix items in your wardrobe into outfits as you know those colours naturally go together. This is super important for men where 1 in 10 may have less of an ability to see colours accurately. Knowing that you don’t have to ask someone else if your clothes are clashing before you leave for work makes life so much easier!
Q: Does color analysis work on all skin tones?
A: Yes! Color analysis focuses on your undertone, not your overtone. “If you're looking at the surface of your skin, we call that an overtone,” says Rashad. “Your overtones change. They can change [when] you have a tan, they can change when you're sun-deprived, they can change when you're ill, aged, embarrassed, working out. Whereas, your undertones do not change, and they're the origin of your coloring.” No matter what your skin color is, you have a warm, cool, neutral, or olive undertone.
Can I bring my child(ren) to my PCA?
A personal colour analysis is a fun, once-in-a-lifetime experience, but it does take some focus from both you and me for a perfectly accurate result. As a mother myself, I know that as much as we love them, children make it hard to focus! For this reason, children cannot attend their parent’s PCA.
I do make an exception for a breast-feeding baby who can’t be separated from you long enough for a PCA. In this case please bring a friend along to look after your baby while you’re being draped.

I’m naturally tan right now – should I wait to get my analysis?
Your natural coloring is just that – natural! So we can do an analysis regardless of how tan you are as long as it’s natural. Though it may feel like we look better in completely different colors when our skin is lighter or darker, this actually isn’t the case. The analysis will reveal colors that will look harmonious and complimentary on you all year long!
Are TikTok filters accurate in uncovering a person’s color season?
Not exactly. Color analysis is a discipline that requires training and a background in color theory. Without the proper qualifications, it’s easy to fall into stereotypes and misconceptions. Because the filters on TikTok and other social media apps are not typically created by trained color analysts, it’s best not to put too much stock into their results. For an accurate color breakdown, it’s best to see a color analysis professional
Can I still wear colors outside of my color season?
Yes! Your color season is there to provide you with a list of hues that bring out your natural beauty, but that doesn’t mean colors outside of your season make you look bad. Clothing preferences and what looks “good” are subjective. For example, if black is outside of your color season but you like the way it looks on you, wear it! Above all, it’s important to wear what makes you feel confident.
Never give up on a color if you love it. But I wouldn’t sacrifice a healthy complexion for a color.
There aren’t (and shouldn’t) be any complete off-limits when it comes to colors. It’s all in how you combine the colors and where on your body you place them.
Any color worn from your waist up can in different
degrees affect your complexion which is
hair, eyes, skin = face.
Anything you place around or on your face
earrings, necklace, makeup, scarf, etc.
are quite crucial to looking your best.

Below the waist is the safe zone for colors
that are not in your palette.
