WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR COLOR ANALYSIS
A personal color analysis consultation at Colors Mint for You involves a series of color harmony tests against a person's natural coloring. The analysis cannot be completed simply by looking at a person, looking at a photo, seeing them on a computer screen or by discussing favorite colors. We will test multiple variations of color hues, values and chromas before determining which seasonal tone best suits you.
Analysis appointment consists of the following:
SCI/ART Color Theory - When you arrive at the studio for your color analysis, we will sit at the consultation table to know one another a bit and move into some color theory discussion. I'll explain the process of the SCI/Art personal color analysis system which is demonstrated by exploring the 12 seasonal tones represented by colored fabrics. This brief explanation makes the experience much more engaging and educational as it will reinforce what we learn as we go through the analysis process.
Visual Assessment Profile - Each client will assist in a visual assessment profile which allows us to document your physical characteristics such as eye color, pigmentation, etc.
Studio Draping Area - 2 1/2 to 3 hours
This area of the studio is equipped with full spectrum lighting to give us the more accurate assessment of your coloring verses incandescent or led lighting.
Your hair will be covered with a neutral-colored hair cap and your shoulders with a cape of the same neutral color over your clothes. This will help cancel out any optical illusions caused by other colors that may be in view. From here the process of using the calibrated drapes will begin and we will observe the effects on your skin, hair, and eyes as we progress.
Discovering Your Season!
You will notice some drapes may wash you out, some may cause yellowing or blue under your eyes. Some drapes will absolutely reinforce and complement the strength of your coloring, and we will eventually be able to confidently identify where you are on the 12 seasonal tone charts.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY PCA APPOINTMENT?

-
Please arrive at your appointment without any makeup, sunscreen, moisturizer, or lip balm.
Moisturizer and lip balm can interfere with light reflection and give a false read.
If it isn't possible for you to arrive without it, you will need to remove it before we begin the draping process.
I usually have makeup removing wipes and/or micellar water on hand, but you're welcome to bring your ownmakeup removal products if you prefer.
-
Do not use self-tanning products on your face or neck for at least a month before your analysis. Results can also be skewed if a client has any faux tanner on the skin or has been recently sunburnt due to extended sun exposure
 -
Clients are asked to remove eyeglasses and tinted contact lenses. If you wear colored contacts, they must be removed or wear colorless contacts. If you wear glasses, it is recommended you wear colorless contacts if you have them, as you will be asked to remove your glasses.
-
Please also avoid perfume as it can cling to the drapes.

-
If you have lash extensions, we can work around them, but it’s ideal if you can come in between fills or even with no extensions at all.
-
I suggest wearing a collarless shirt. This is so your collar doesn’t peek out from the neutral grey draping cape during your PCA.
-
If you have long hair, you may want to bring a ponytail holder or headband so that you can more easily put your hair into the gray draping bonnet.

I HAVE A REALLY GREAT (NATURAL) TAN RIGHT NOW - SHOULD I WAIT TO SCHEDULE MY ANALYSIS?
If you love the sun, rest assured your skin tans YOUR natural color! We can go ahead with your analysis regardless of how tan you are (again, as long as it’s natural - no self-tanner). The SCI/ART analysis method will reveal colors that will look harmonious and complimentary on you all year long. Despite feeling like we look better in different colors when our skin is darker due to sun exposure (or lighter at other times of the year), this actually isn’t true! We cannot do the analysis if you have a bad sunburn, though. Please take precautions leading up to your appointment.

CAN I TAKE PHOTOS OR VIDEOS OF MY ANALYSIS?
The SCI/ART analysis process and the calibrated NDU drapes that I use as a Certified Color Analyst are protected, intellectual property of Colors Mint for You, for this reason, they are protected from media use.
Not to worry, I will take a before and after picture during your analysis and will share with you afterwards.

MY HAIR IS COLORED AND/OR GRAYING, WILL THAT AFFECT MY ANALYSIS?
Nope! If your hair is colored (even in a color matching/close to your natural hair color) we will cover it during the analysis process to ensure an accurate result. After we have determined your seasonal tone, we can also discuss hair colors that fall into your range if desired. I have hair color samples in the studio we can examine and swatch.
If your hair has naturally grayed or whitened, YOUR gray or white hair color is actually in line with your natural color harmony! We can leave your hair uncovered, and watch it harmonize beautifully with your seasonal tone!
